To become eligible for Life Membership a member:

 

Will have been a Member of the Association for ten (10) or more years.

Life Members

Gavin Foreman (Deceased)

Inducted: 1988

Gavin was one of two umpires to be recognised as the first life members of the Association. This honour recognised his commitment to the Association in its formative years and his vast experience as an umpire. He was also awarded the Umpire of the Year trophy in 1998.

Vince Pulsinelli

Inducted: 1988

An inaugural life member in 1988, Vince has been a dedicated umpire to both the SSJFUA and the Hills Umpiring Association for many years. Instrumental in laying down the fundraising culture within the Association, Vince has been a committed clubman and association member.

Chris Binks

Inducted: 1990

Chris was the Association's inaugural President in 1985. He also played an important role in the formative stages of the Association over the following few years. A seasoned umpire, after spending many years umpiring in the Sunday Football League, Chris introduced his son Adam to umpiring who went on to umpire at WAFL level. Chris was awarded the Umpire of the Year trophy in 1985.

Gary French

Inducted: 1991

A 'larger than life' character, passionate about his local sport and well respected within the Gosnells and Kelmscott club circles as well as the umpiring fraternity. Gary was a major contributor to the umpiring social and cultural development including opening his home for many, many years for club functions. His son Wayne, also umpired with the SSJFUA and progressed to WAFL level.

Bob Gibbons

Inducted: 1993

Bob is a well respected member of the Association who has served on the Committee with distinction. He has served as President on three occasions (1983, 1994, 1995) and as Treasurer on four occasions (1987, 1989, 1990, 1991). He has also been awarded the Umpire of the Year trophy in 1988 and 1994. 

Steve Hills

Inducted: 1994

Steve is a foundation member of the DDFUA and one of its most active participants over a 25-year period. He has served as President on six occasions (1987, 1988, 1990, 1991, 2000, 2001), as Secretary on two occasions (1986, 1992) and as Treasurer once (1985). After a short break from the Association, Steve returned in 2009 as the Modifed Rules Coach and Coach of the Development Squad. In 2010, he took on the role of Umpires Advisor for the second time (1986, 2010). Steve has been awarded the Umpire of the Year trophy three times (1987, 1989 and 1999), which is a joint record for the Association.

Greg Jenyns

Inducted: 1995

Greg was a committed member of the Association who served with distinction on the Committee. He was Secretary for five consecutive seasons (1987, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1991) and went onto be Umpires Advisor in 1992 and 1993. He was also Umpire of the Year in 1990.

Alan Marsh

Inducted: 1998

Alan has served as President on two occasions (1998, 1999) and was awarded the Umpire of the Year trophy in 1992. Alan was, and continues to be, a passionate member of the Association who keeps in close touch with all current umpires. 

Wayne Wendt

Inducted: 2000

Wayne is a long-serving member of the Association that has consistenly been involved with the Committee for the duration of his career. He has served as President on three occasions (2002, 2003, 2004), as Secretary on two occasions (2000, 2001) and as Treasurer on two occasions (1996, 1997). Wayne was also awarded the Umpire of the Year trophy in 1996 and 2003. Wayne continued to be actively involved in a coaching capacity as Modified Rules Coach for three seasons (2011, 2012, 2013) and as Open Rules Coach for two seasons (2014, 2015).

Lance Cameron

Inducted: 2000

Lance is a popular member of the Association and continues to have a close involvement today. He served as President in 1996, as Treasurer on two occasions (1994, 1995) and has been awarded the Umpire of the Year trophy three times (1993, 1997, 2000). This is a joint-record for our Association with no other umpire having been recognised as the Umpire of the Year on more than three occasions.

Paul Simonsen

Inducted: 2000

Paul is one of the Association's longest serving members and best known personalities in the community. He has served as Association President in 1997, and Umpires Advisor in 1996. He was also awarded the Umpire of the Year trophy in 1995. 

Glen Turner

Inducted: 2009

Glen started umpiring in 1996 and has since proven to be one of our most conistent and reliable umpires. He has also had a keen involvement in the Association's activities, serving as President in 2008, Umpires Advisor in 2009 and Open Rules Coach in 2013. He was also awarded the Umpire of the Year trophy in 2002.

Russell Cooke

Inducted: 2009

Russell joined the Association in 1996 and is now one of the our most experienced umpires. Russell was awarded the Umpire of the Year trophy in 2007, after many years of being the stand-out umpire in the junior competition. He has also taken on the role of Assistant Coach in 2009 and 2010. Russell was also promoted to the position of Open Rules Coach for the 2011 season.

Daniel Gibbons

Inducted: 2011

Daniel joined the Association in 2002 and since 2006 was heavily involved in the Association's Committee. Daniel has served as President for four seasons (2006, 2007, 2009 & 2010). He was awarded Umpire of the Year twice (2005 and 2010) and umpired seven consecutive Grand Finals from 2004 to 2010. He later took a keen interest in umpire development and coaching as Umpire Manager for ten seasons (2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 & 2020).

Bryan Doyle (Deceased)

Inducted: 2016

Bryan joined the Association in 1999 and has umpired continuously since that time. He was a General Committee member for two seasons (2012, 2013) and a Match Day Coach for two seasons (2014, 2015). He umpired three consecutive Grand Finals in 2010, 2011 and 2012 and was recognised as the Umpire of the Year in 2012. He has also umpired extensively in the WAAFL competition and has made a wide ranging contribution to umpiring in many facets.

Kevin Gibbons

Inducted: 2016

Kevin joined the Association in 2002 as an honorary member and, although never picking up a whistle himself, has had a significant impact on the Association. He has served on the Committee for fourteen seasons as Social Secretary (2003), Secretary (2004, 2005) and Treasurer (2006, 2007, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 & 2022). His years of service on the Committee makes him the longest serving member of the Committee in the Association's history. He was also a member of the Operations Department as Administrative Officer for three seasons (2013, 2014, 2015).

Scott Thompson 

Inducted: 2017

Scott joined the Association in 2006 and over a period of ten years has had an significant influence on the Association. He served on the Committee for seven seasons as Social Secretary (2008 & 2010) and as President (2011, 2012, 2013, 2016 & 2017). He umpired seven Grand Finals and was awarded the Umpire of the Year trophy in 2011. He was also a member of the Operations Department for four seasons as Administrative Officer (2011), Modified Rules Coach (2014) and Mentor Coach (2012 & 2013). 

Cory Dugan

Inducted: 2019

Cory joined the Association in 2009 and over the ensuing period has represented the Association with distinction. He umpired five consecutive Grand Finals and was awarded the Umpire of the Year trophy in 2013. He served as Social Secretary for five seasons (2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 & 2015). He was also a member of the Operations Department for two seasons as a Match Day Coach (2014 & 2015) and as Open Rules Senior Coach for five seasons (2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 & 2020). In 2018, he became the first DDFUA member to make his WAFL League field umpiring debut in 20 years.

Alex Paton

Inducted: 2020

Alex joined the Association in 2009. As an umpire he excelled on the field having umpired four Grand Finals (2012-2015) and being awarded the Umpire of the Year trophy in 2015. He has undertaken the role of Open Rules Development Coach for five seasons (2016-2020). Alex has served the DDFUA with distinction on and off the field, as well as representing the Association at WAFL level. Alex has made a significant contribution to umpiring in our District.

Michael Bleakley

Inducted: 2020

Michael joined the Association in 2010. As an umpire he excelled on the field having umpired six Grand Finals (2013-2018). Later he joined the Operations Department where he was a Mentor Coach for one season (2016) before stepping into the role of Modified Rules Development Coach in 2017. From there, he was promoted to the role of Modified Rules Senior Coach and served for three seasons (2018-2020). Michael has made a significant contribution to the development of our most inexperienced umpires over this period.
