Former DDFUA Umpire Brett Rosebury took centre stage on Saturday 25th September as he was entrusted with the opening bounce of the extraordinary 2010 AFL Grand Final.
In front of 100,016 screaming fans Rosebury and fellow field umpires, Shaun Ryan and Ray Chamberlain, put on an excellent umpiring display.
After Collingwood raced away to an early lead, St Kilda came back in the second half and jumped in front late in the fourth quarter. However, Collingwood would not give up as both teams took part in an epic arm-wrestle for the lead.
After a tense final few minutes the teams could not be split and the match remained a historic draw with both teams on 68 points.
Rosebury will have a sense of déjà vu next Saturday afternoon as Collingwood and St Kilda face off in the AFL Grand Final replay to ultimately decide who will be the 2010 Premiers.
